Tiramisu is a creamy coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. Traditionally, tiramisu is made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of cream, eggs, sugar, and mascarpone, flavoured with vanilla.
Many people have their own version of this dessert. Some people use egg yolks and others go as far as adding rum or coffee liqueur. These two ingredients are part of the original tiramisu recipe although you can certainly do without them.
The Italian gods definitely knew what they were doing when coming up with this amazing dessert. Everyone needs to try it!
Ingredients
Coffee
Sugar
Ladyfingers
Mascarpone
Heavy or whipping cream
Vanilla essence
Cocoa powder
Measurements listed below are just a guide and can be adjusted at any time!

Measurements
1 cup of coffee
ladyfingers (20-30)
2 1/2 cups mascarpone
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh cream or whipping cream
1 Tbsp vanilla essence
COOKING AND PREPARATION
To a mixing bowl add your mascarpone and cream. Mix together until fluffy. You can use an electric hand mixer or a stand mixer. Or you can go old school and use a whisk.
Once the cream mixture is fluffy, add your vanilla and your sugar. Mix until sugar is incorporated. You can taste and adjust sugar if you want. If you think it’s too sweet add a pinch of salt.
Set your cream aside.
Make your coffee and make sure it’s cool or at room temperature. You can add a dark rum to your coffee or a coffee liqueur. I didn’t use any alcohol for this recipe, but feel free to do so.
Dip your ladyfingers in the coffee and lay them in your preferred pan or baking dish.
Once you fill the bottom with your first layer of ladyfingers, add a layer of the cream. Repeat the process until your pan is filled all the way to the top.
Sprinkle some unsweetened cocoa powder over the top and leave to set in the fridge for about 4 hours or overnight if desired. Leave it uncovered.
Once set, slice with a sharp knife and enjoy. Add melted chocolate or whipped cream for extra flavo!
Enjoy!
